Elizabeth (Betty) Dorothy Vanghele, age 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 17, 2016. Born in Bridgeport on March 20, 1928 to Theodore and Angelina Nastu Giambazi, Betty attended Bridgeport schools and then worked at the Bryant Electric Company and later the University of Bridgeport in the college's Records Department for many years until her retirement. Betty enjoyed reading, watching her favorite movies (especially those of Burt Lancaster and Laurel and Hardy), listening to music (she adored Mario Lanza), going to Seaside Park, and took the greatest pride in caring for her family and home. Left to honor Betty's memory are her two sons Thomas Vanghele and his wife Janice of New York City, and Alexander Vanghele of Bridgeport. Betty is also survived by her sibling James Giambazi and his wife Katherine of Bridgeport, her niece Elaine Shanazu Bernard of Bridgeport, and her nephews Peter G. Shanazu of Southport, Theodore Giambazi of Shelton, and Nicholas Giambazi of Bridgeport, her grand-nieces Marla Shanazu Shepard of Massachusetts, Cara Bernard of Bridgeport, Jaden Giambazi of Shelton, and her grand-nephews Peter G. Shanazu Jr. of Norwalk and Matthew Giambazi of Shelton. Betty was predeceased by her sisters Louise Giambazi Lazar, Mary Giambazi Shanazu, Florence Giambazi and Margaret Giambazi. Calling hours and funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 21st beginning at 10 am in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center with burial to follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport.
