Glenn A. ( Butch ) Crowell, Jr, age 65, of Stratford, beloved husband of Catherine Atanase Crowell, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. Born and raised in Bridgeport, son of the late Glenn and Patrina Giordanella Crowell, He attended Bullard Havens Technical School where he learned his trade of carpentry. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Vietnam War. Glenn later went on to work for Sikorsky Aircraft for over 35 years until his recent retirement. While at Sikorsky, Glenn also served as a company mentor, helping many new employees begin their careers. Glenn loved using his " master carpenter " skills making a variety of gifts for family and friends. He was an avid bowler for many years in the Milford Lanes League. Glenn was a New York Yankees fan and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. He will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father and a very great "Poppy" . In addidion to Cathy, his devoted wife of 38 years, Mr. Crowell leaves behind his daughters, Andrea Stegner and her husband Craig and Erica Crowell, all of Stratford and his precious grandchild Camden Stegner. He leaves behind his brother Bert Crowell, sisters Tina Moccio and Maria Crowell, his mother in law Ronnie Atanase and sister in law Patricia Shevlin as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father in law Vasel Atanase and brother in law John Atanase. Calling hours will be held on Saturday in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center. from 1:30 pm until 4:30 pm concluding with a prayer service and full Military Honors. The Crowell family wishes to express their thanks to the Hospice Care staff of Bridgeport Hospital and Vitas for their help and compassion during his illness .
