Henry A. Altieri, age 87, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Rita Buynak Altieri, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. Born and raised in Bridgeport, Mr. Altieri had been a Fairfield Town resident for many years. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He had worked as an educator for the Norwalk State Technical College, Bridgeport's Central and Harding High Schools and the University of Bridgeport. Mr. Altieri also worked for the Perkin Elmer and AVCO Lycoming companies. At the time of his death Henry worked for his daughter's Law Practice as the Bookkeeper and General Manager. Henry was an avid reader, he liked working on the computer, tending to his gardens and walking at St. Mary's by the Sea. He will be lovingly remembered for his hard work ethic and especially for his devotion to family. He will be greatly missed. In addition to Rita, his devoted wife of 61 years, Henry leaves his daughter, Attorney Maria R. Altieri of Bridgeport, brothers Peter Altieri and his wife Edith of Louisville, KY and Mario Altieri of Mooresville, NC as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Charles Vertucci and his wife Lois and sister in law Jeanette Corvino Altieri. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 am in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-8 pm in the funeral home.
