Mary was born in Bridgeport on August 1, 1951, daughter of the late Andrew and Julia Ragan Harayda. In her early years, Mary was employed at Lafayette Bank, but after having her children she was a stay at home mom until her children were in school full time. Mary was involved in Drum and Bugle Corps and marched with the Trumbull Troubadors and was a former member of the Park City Pride. She loved to reminisce about many childhood memories and especially enjoyed playing cards with her mother. Mary is survived by her son, Michael Garrity of Bridgeport, daughter Megan Chaves and her husband Rui of Stratford and her first grandson Lucas. She leaves behind brothers Andrew Harayda ( Carole ) of Arizona, John Harayda ( Maryann ) of Shelton, Robert Harayda ( Kathleen ) of Florida, sisters Elizabeth Bush of Florida, Sandy Harayda of Bridgeport, Margaret Walsh ( Edward ) of Meridan, a Godson John Bachinski of Bridgeport as well as many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly, as they loved her. Mary will be fondly missed by her special friends Helene Horvath and Michele Roy. She was predeceased by her sisters Susan Odoardi and Barbara Simpson.
