Zoltan (Zoly) Ladislau Kassay, beloved husband of Marie Kunak Kassay and life-long resident of Fairfield, passed away peacefully at Bridgeport Hospital on Saturday, November 26, 2016 following a courageous seventeen year battle with Parkinson's Disease. Zoly was born on August 11, 1931 to Frank and Anna Kassay. He attended McKinley School and was a proud member of the Class of 1949, Roger Ludlowe High School. He also attended Bridgeport Engineering Institute and was employed as a tool and die maker for the Edwards Company in Norwalk and retired from Dresser Industries in Stratford. Zoly was an avid sports fan, especially supporting the New York Mets and Jets, as well as the UCONN Women's basketball teams. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and gardening but most of all, the times he spent with his family. He was a long-time parishioner of St. Emery's Church and was a member of the Senior Club and the Holy Name Society. He volunteered at the Bingo games for many years. He also was a member of Trout Unlimited, Dresser Retirees and Black Rock Young at Heart. In addition to Marie, his devoted wife of 60 years, Zoly is survived by his daughters, Judy Bahr and her husband, Raymond of Durham, Lynne Boccuzzi and her husband, Ralph of New Canaan and Doreen Hesse and her husband, George of Trumbull, his grandchildren, Jaclyn Manzo and her husband, Michael, Matthew Bahr, Lisa and Nick Boccuzzi, and Thomas and Andrew Hesse. Also, brothers, John Kassay and Steve Kassay and sisters, Betty Gondola, Marge Balogh and Helen Olah. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Louis Kassay and Frank Kassay and sister, Barbara Cavaliere. The family would like to thank the nurses and aides of Rosenberg House, Jewish Senior Services, for their professionalism, support and compassion. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 11 am DIRECTLY at St. Emery's Church, 838 Kings Highway East, Fairfield. Interment will follow at Lawncroft Cemetery, 1740 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield. Calling hours are on Monday, November 28, 2016 from 4-8 pm at the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to St. Emery's Church.
